Parking Lot Striping in Arkansas

Arkansas Pavement stripes and restripes commercial parking lots across Arkansas, including layout, accessible stalls and directional markings. Paint goes on last, once any sealcoat underneath has cured, because it will not bond to a surface still curing or to a dirty line. A restripe can follow the existing layout or reset it, and accessible stalls, access aisles and fire lanes are laid out to the dimensions those markings call for.

Striping is what makes a lot work. Faded lines waste stalls, confuse traffic flow and create a liability where accessible parking is involved.

How it works

Three steps, and the first one costs nothing.

  1. Step 1

    You get in touch

Call, or send the property details and what you have noticed about the surface. Either one reaches the crew directly.

  2. Step 2

    Someone walks the lot

Commercial asphalt is priced off the surface itself, so the quote follows a site visit rather than a phone call. The estimate is free.

  3. Step 3

You get the order of work

What needs doing now, what can wait, and how the sections would be phased so the property keeps trading while the crew is there.

Parking Lot Striping: common questions

How often does a parking lot actually need restriping?

Most commercial lots come back around every 18 to 24 months, but that is an average and your lot wears unevenly. Lines go first where tires turn across them, so entrances, end stalls and drive lanes fade years ahead of the middle of a row. UV bleaches the pigment, and yellow gives up before white does. Oil and fuel soften the asphalt under a line and lift the paint in patches. Where the lot is plowed in an ice event, the blade takes markings off in one pass. Read the busy corners rather than the whole lot; they tell you when it is due.

What happens on a striping day, start to finish?

Layout comes before paint. On a restripe where the old lines still read, we measure off the existing layout and run fresh paint over the shadows. On a redraw we pull dimensions from something fixed, a building face or a curb line, because faded lines drift and copying them repeats the error. Either way the surface has to be swept and dry. Paint bonds to whatever it touches, so dust under a line means it peels. Stall lines go down four inches wide from an airless machine, and the lot reopens section by section as the paint dries.

Paint or thermoplastic: which belongs on a parking lot?

They are different materials, not two grades of the same one. Waterborne traffic paint sprays on thin and cures by evaporation, which is why humidity stretches the dry time as much as air temperature does, and why most formulas want the ground and the air at 50 degrees and rising. Thermoplastic goes down molten and thick, fuses to the asphalt, and carries glass beads through its full cross section, so it stays reflective as it wears. It lasts far longer per application and costs far more per foot. That trade is why it earns crosswalks and fire lanes rather than every stall line.

What drives the price of a striping job?

Two things start the number: linear feet of line, and how much layout work sits behind it. A restripe over a readable layout is the faster job, because the measuring is already on the ground. A redraw is a different job. New dimensions, and the old lines have to be blacked out or ground off, and removal can scar the surface. Stencils are counted one at a time, so accessible symbols, arrows, fire lane lettering and painted curb each add to it. Paint type moves it, and so does whether the lot needs cleaning before anything goes down.

What do accessible stalls have to meet?

The ADA sets counts, not preferences. A parking lot with up to 25 spaces needs one accessible space, and the required number climbs from there with the total. At least one in every six accessible spaces has to be van accessible. Every accessible space needs a marked access aisle beside it, 60 inches minimum, and a van space gets its clearance either by widening the space to 132 inches or by widening the aisle to 96. That aisle is part of the space, not spare pavement. Paint fixes markings. It cannot fix a slope that was built into the lot.
